Dr. Fabio Magurano is a senior virologist at the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS), Rome, where he has worked since 1999. Since 2021, he has headed the WHO/LabNet Italian Measles and Rubella Laboratory and coordinates the MoRoNet network of reference laboratories. His expertise includes measles and rubella surveillance, SARS-CoV-2, viral diagnostics, cellular infection models, and the laboratory investigation of high-consequence pathogens. He has extensive experience in BSL-3/BSL-4 laboratory operations, pathogen handling, and high-containment laboratory training. He has also contributed to ISS COVID-19 research and scientific advisory activities.
